Representative Matters

A young woman accused her aunt’s husband of rape and sexual assault at a time when the aunt and her husband were divorcing. Johns, Flaherty & Collins represented the man as the case went to trial. Near the end of the trial, the young woman took the witness stand where, under cross-examination, admitted to lying about the allegations. The case was dismissed.

A Native American was charged with several alcohol and sex crimes, a conviction for which would have resulted in a lengthy prison term plus listing on the sex offender registry for life. In representing him, Johns, Flaherty & Collins developed maps where all the incidents had occurred along with documentation for where the man was at the time of the crime, demonstrating it would have been logistically impossible for him to have committed the crimes. The court found the man innocent, leading authorities to further investigation and ultimate arrest of the person who was found guilty of the crimes.
