Butzler is a recent graduate of Marquette University Law School, where he was active in moot court and served as treasurer of the Environmental Law Society. He also participated in the Business Law Society and volunteered with the Legal Action of Wisconsin Bankruptcy Petition Clinic, gaining early experience helping clients navigate complex legal processes. While at Marquette, he was honored with the prestigious Thomas More Law Scholarship, which recognized his academic achievements and commitment to service.
While in law school, Butzler served as a law clerk with both Johns, Flaherty & Collins and Krukowski Law Group, SC. In those roles, he supported attorneys in drafting legal documents, conducting case research, and working directly with clients — experiences that helped shape his practical, client-focused approach.
Originally from the Coulee Region, Butzler earned his undergraduate degrees in economics and political science from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he made the dean’s list three times.
“Butzler stood out to us even as a law clerk, showing a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a great rapport with clients and staff,” said Brent Smith, managing partner at Johns, Flaherty & Collins. “We’re pleased to welcome him back as an associate and look forward to his contributions to our team.”
