Johns, Flaherty & Collins, SC, attorney Ellen Atterbury has been elected to serve on the board of directors for the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Wisconsin. She will begin her two-year term of service in July. She is also slated to serve as secretary of the La Crosse Bar Association and secretary of the YWCA La Crosse board of directors beginning later this summer.
Atterbury joined Johns, Flaherty & Collins in 2018 after earning her juris doctorate at the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison. She focuses her practice on criminal defense, divorce and family law, estate planning and elder law, litigation and bankruptcy.
“Ellen has fully embraced our good neighbors, great lawyers approach to practicing law,” said Managing Partner Brent Smith. “In the two years since she’s joined the firm, she’s volunteered in the community in several ways, including activities like introducing local students to the legal profession and serving on the YWCA board of directors. These new service opportunities are an excellent fit.”
Even while in law school, Atterbury served in leadership and volunteer positions. She is a past-president of the University of Wisconsin Law School Student Bar Association and earned her law school’s highest tier of pro bono distinction for her volunteer work.
